Slow but steady runoff has made for good conditions on the Gallatin. We're seeing Caddis in the afternoon and catching some nice trout in the pocket water with size 8, 10 and 12 golden stone nymphs and classic cased caddis and emerging caddis patterns. Size 12, 14 or 16 lightning bugs, beadhead princes and pheasant tails. That being said, the river is still high. Concentrations of fish can be found off the banks where structure exists and in the softer flatter runs. Before rushing out into the river, remember "if it looks like you could stand in it, well, that's where the fish are!"
Other fly patterns:
Size 8,10 and 12 girdle bugs and rubberleg stone flies.
